Business Operations Manager

Job Summary
The Business Operations Manager will integrate management systems and functional support areas for assigned global contract. Work includes food service oversight which will include: project controls, finance, procurement, subcontracts, property control.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
  • Monitors food service operations procurement and provides management oversight of all subcontract and property control functions.
  • Manages personnel requirements and assignments.
  • Plans and implements policies and activities related to the timely, cost -effective provisions of the full gamut of food service operations.
  • Serves as one of the senior advisors to senior management for the assigned program regarding food service operations.
  • Develops and maintains all budgets for assigned departments
  • Provides technical business acumen and guidance for proposals development.
  • Coordinates the development of food service and retail related sub-contracts as well as vendor selection input and subsequent evaluation
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and other company practices and management directives.
  • Develops presentations of company capabilities, experience and past performance to current and potential customers.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of customer acquisition and financial procedures and policies, including FAR and DFAR acquisition documents
  • Fully knowledgeable of all facets of food service operations to include menu development; the requisition of rations; the proper storage of rations; food preparations and serving; catering operations in support of outlying locations; and cleaning and sanitation; and maintenance of dining facilities
  • Knowledge of contract budget and proposal cost formulation for U.S. and international markets
  • Knowledge of business operational and strategic planning preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, effective leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in business or hospitality management or related field preferred
  • Eight (8) years or more experience of combined food service operations and logistics in the defense services industry or comparable commercial industry required.
  • Previous experience in commercial food services preferred
  • Retail management experience preferred

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • General works in normal office environment, but may be required to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, to austere environments, under harsh living conditions.
