Job Description:

The Government Health and Safety Solutions Operation is seeking a Business Intelligence Architect in Baltimore, MD.

Position Description:

The Sr. Business Intelligence Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing reporting architecture to satisfy SSA’s requirements reporting, as well as data retention. Knowledge of Interactive Voice Response (IVR) is critical to support one of the Agency’s key projects.

The Sr. BI Architect will also be responsible for assisting the customer in determining the most appropriate BI Tool for their requirements. This may involve creating POCs in both WebFOCUS 8 and Tableau and preparing presentations to the customer to determine which tool best fits their requirements. The developer will design and develop complex enterprise level applications and other system software using a strong working knowledge of WebFOCUS, Tableau, (or any other tool determined by the Agency) and Section 508 testing and coding standards. They will use superior oral and written communications skills as needed to effectively present results, as well as, convey progress, issues, reports, and other customer deliverables with clarity and value. The developer may assist with documenting the conversion effort, including lessons learned.

Required Education & Certifications:

Bachelor's +12 years relevant experience, or Master’s +10 years relevant experience.

Required skills:

  • Demonstrated design and development skills using WebFOCUS 8 and Tableau 8 or above.
  • Experience with Interactive Voice Response (IVR) software and the ability to extract-transform-load (ETL) data from various platforms.
  • Experience with version control software such as MKS and Bitbucket.
  • Knowledge of both client/server and mainframe-based systems.
  • Ability to independently and rapidly learn new technology, as needed
  • Experience eliciting requirements that lead to identification of business rules.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at a professional level.
  • Ability to explain complex technical and management information with conciseness, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production report failures.
  • Ability to effectively support multiple projects at one time.

Desired:

  • Self-managed with the ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Experience writing, managing, maintaining ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with Greenplum databases and Enterprise Data Warehouses.
  • Demonstrated development ability using Oracle EPM.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with FOCUS.
  • Ability to quickly learn new BI Tools as needed.
  • Experience with JavaScript and HTML.
  • Strong background in coding and testing Section 508 standards.
  • Extensive technical experience with requirements analysis efforts for large-scale successful IT system implementations.
  • Requirements analysis experience with identifying services and defining processing requirements in a SOA environment.
  • Business Process Modeling experience to visualize, document, model and analyze business processes.
  • Experience with managing resources, managing assigned work, maintaining technical liaison with the customer.
  • Experience in identifying and conveying opportunity capture.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
