Business Development Operations Manager

The RVS Business Development Operations Manager reports to the RVS Business Development and Strategy Director. In this role, the RVS BD Operations Manager will have overall responsibility for weekly/monthly/quarterly activities including business management of the RVS NBI budget; monitoring and reporting of bookings, forecasts, and opportunity pipelines; EW and SAS Ops meetings attendance; BD metrics; coordination and management of periodic BD reports (including a weekly report to the RVS LT and a weekly Quarterly Bookings Waterfall Forecast); data requests by the SAS and EW BD teams as well as the SAS Strategy team. This position is an integral part of the RVS BD team with broad interaction at all levels of RVS, including a strong partnership with the RVS Finance team.

The financial responsibilities include monitoring and management of RVS NBI, and assistance with capital, IRAD and business case planning. This role is the “right hand person” of the BD Director to ensure all internal activities in support of the BD team are run well so the rest of the team can focus on deepening customer intimacy, developing and executing winning capture strategies and proposals, and developing a robust pipeline. As the “tactician” to ensure the BD element of the RVS General Manager’s strategic intent is delivered, this position will support the BD team in driving bookings and pipeline results and efficient NBI expenditure.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and supporting BD deliverables such as weekly/monthly forecast and opportunity reports, Technology Investment and Capture Coordination (TICC) inputs, preparing materials for a variety of meetings with RVS LT members, and other related requests
  • Providing support to key Conferences/Symposiums
  • Providing “surge support” to the BD team when needed for color teams, gates, etc.
  • Providing support to the annual Strategic Dialogue preparation
  • Developing ongoing relationships with the EW BD Ops lead, and interacting with other RTN BD teams
  • Leading implementation of e-RPM (corporate pipeline management tool) to include ensuring RVS complies with SAS guidance
  • Improving the proposal process and NBI effectiveness

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills—ability to effectively work across the organization and communicate with all levels of management
  • Business acumen and ability to influence team behaviors to achieve results
  • Experience using business and project management tools and procedures such as IPDS, Risk Management, Financial Forecasts
  • Working knowledge of the Integrated Product Development System
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance within 1 year of hire date

Required Skills:
  • 6+ combined years of work experience in a Program / Business Development / Finance / Engineering / Strategy position
  • Strong analytic thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong Excel, Data Base, and Word skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to develop into a Business Development Manager or Program Capture Lead
  • Some travel may be required
  • Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Business, Finance or related field desired)
