Business Development Lead - Air Force Space


SAIC seeks a Business Development Lead who will be responsible for business development and capture activities related to Air Force space opportunities.  The required roles include all aspects of business development and capture management activities covering the whole life cycle of an opportunity pursuit from identification to transition.  Position reports to Senior Director, SAIC Space Strategy.  

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Apply a strong understanding of AFSPC and SMC and its mission partners, to include leadership, organizational behavior, buying practices, major programs and industry positions, to develop and manage a dynamic, multi-year pipeline of opportunities. 
  • Lead strategic planning and positioning for AF space related opportunities, with emphasis on winning business by delivering differentiated capabilities from SAIC’s extensive solutions portfolio. 
  • Apply SAIC procedures and best practices to personally identify and qualify opportunities and thereby meet goals for pipeline sufficiency and quality. 
  • Support post-qualification capture and proposal development for approved opportunities, particularly in the areas of customer engagement; teaming; and coordination with internal business development and sales resources.


  • Bachelors degree and 15+ years or more of relevant experience.  
  • Substantial experience in business development and capture processes, strategy development and capture execution is required.
  • Current knowledge of National Security Space and its mission partners, including existing customer and industry peer relationships. 
  • Outstanding verbal, writing, and inter-personal skills needed to communicate effectively and persuasively with personnel at all levels, both in customer spaces and within SAIC.  
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and USAF/SMC contracting, acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors. 
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI
  • Previous USAF experience related to AF space system acquisition and operations is highly desirable.
