AWS Senior Cloud Engineer/Remote

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Senior Cloud Engineer supporting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), you will be trusted to administer, configure and maintain the full range of AWS services. You will be part of a 60 person team supporting the Trusted Third Party (TTP) which was established in 2012 to reduce fraud, waste and abuse in healthcare data.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Implement tools and automation for infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, diagnostics, and scaling.
  • Use Amazon EC2 features to provision, monitor, scale and distribute compute infrastructure.
  • Create Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) resources such as subnets, network access control lists, and security groups
  • Configure and manage AWS environments to meet business owner needs.
  • Provide Architectural and Engineering designs for Cloud based infrastructure on Public IaaS
  • Deploy, test and document Development, Pre-Production and Production environments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 8+ years overall technical support or development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of cloud experience
  • AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate
  • Computer Science fundamentals in data structures and problem solving.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages: Python, Ruby, JavaScript or programming languages: Java, C++/C#.
  • Solid networking knowledge.
  • Proficient in scripting Image deployment and bootstrapping, as well as Cloud Formation
  • Knowledge of databases like MySQL, Oracle, SQLServer, or MongoDB
  • Experience in a 24/7 production environment
  • Experience designing redundant, highly-available, multi-region cloud architectures
  • US Citizenship or permanent resident (must have lived in the US for 3 out of the last 5 years); and be able to obtain a public trust clearance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years of experience deploying cloud architecture
  • AWS Certified Solution Architect Professional
  • Experience in Linux/Unix based systems a plus
  • Assist in preparing cost analysis based on expected usage
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Strong background in Microsoft based applications
  • Leverage resource tagging to allocate costs and optimize resource planning.
  • Experience with security and network monitoring tools such as Nagios, New Relic, Trend Micro, and Splunk
  • Create client accounts on behalf of client and configure consolidated billing.
  • Backup AWS and on-premise resources using AWS services
