•Operating, maintaining in an operational condition, and maintaining proficiency on overhead cranes, mobile cranes, backhoes, front end loaders, forklift trucks, and other heavy equipment required at ATR Complex

•Performing hoisting and rigging activities including selection of equipment, type of lift determination, load calculations, setting up and taking down equipment, and pre-use inspections in support of work activities at the ATR Complex

•Performing hoisting and rigging activities associated with experiment casks and other transport cask operations including operations and pre-use inspections of the tractor/trailer combination used for transporting the cask

•Performing crane and rigging equipment inspections per work documentation provided

•Participating in the work control process planning walk down by providing recommendations to the planner on hazard identification, hazard mitigation, technical information, task sequencing, resource requirements, equipment requirements, and other information to produce a work document that can be used in the field to accomplish the identified work scope

•Providing on-the-job training to other craftsman as requested by maintenance management

•Providing feedback to the foreman on any training needs or improvements that are needed to drive better performance and identifying any opportunities for improvement

•Providing feedback to the Planning Manager and/or Planning Technical Lead on any recommended improvements to the work order documentation process

•Performing Ready walk downs as directed by the foreman

•Maintaining assigned qualifications in accordance with the INL and ATR Program qualification process. Maintaining certification under the state CDL program

•Planning, implementing, and executing special projects within area of expertise assigned by the foreman


Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) "L" security clearance

High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Minimum of 4 years of related heavy equipment operation experience

Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License and valid State CDL Driver’s License with endorsements

Special Requirements and/or Training:

•Within 12 months of hire, complete required ES&H training to carry out assigned responsibilities

•Within 12 months of hire, complete requirements for ATR Program Qualification as a Heavy Equipment Operator for nuclear facilities

•Within 3 months of hire, complete Radiological Work Qualification requirements and maintain qualification for duration of employment

•Within one month of hire, submit the documentation for a DOE “L” clearance.

Work Conditions: Facility: High noises (>85dB), heights,confined spaces, stairs; Environmental Conditions: heat stress, cold stress, radiationwork; Equipment: ladders >6 feet, machine/electrical hazards, power tools,vibrating equipment, protective clothing, respirator use, heavy equipment, motorvehicle use; Personnel Requirements: >8 Hrs/day, overtime/irregular hours, working alone.

Certification Exam(s): Dotdriver, Crane Mobile, Crane Overhead (Cab, Pulpit, & ‘Some’ Remote), Respiratoruser, testing designated position (TDP)

Surveillance Exam(s): Noise(Hearing Conservation Program)
