Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) & (IS) Specialist

ARA is seeking an AFSO and IS Specialist to support the Facility Security Officer (FSO) and Information System Security Manager (ISSM) by helping provide oversight of ARA’s traditional facility security program. The AFSO and IS Specialist will work with the FSO and ISSM to ensure the office readiness for its annual Defense Security Service (DSS) Security Vulnerability Assessment (SVA) evaluations and the Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI). Job Responsibilities Include:

Information Security

  • Assist the Facility Security Officer (FSO) and Information System Security Manager (ISSM) with DoD Collateral programs to include all facets of DoD security and Information System Security
  • Assist the Facility Security Officer and Information System Security Manager with the implementation of Traditional Security STIGs for SIPRNet communications and prepare for the Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI)

Personnel Security:

  • Utilize the system of record for maintaining and initiating Personnel Security clearances
  • Assist with the Insider Threat Program training

Physical Security:

  • Apply physical security concepts to improve the office security posture

Information System Security

  • Assist ISSM with Risk Management Framework
  • Writing policies and procedures and implementing and accrediting Information Systems
  • Assist in configuration, administration and operation of Wide-Area and Local Area Networks (WAN/LAN)

Required Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must have five or more years’ experience working in a classified environment and experience working in DoD security and information systems
  • Must have current/active Secret or higher DoD security clearance
  • Experience preparing for SIPRNet CCRI inspections
  • Knowledge of NIST’s Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Defense Security Service (DSS) Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM)
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Experience with implementing and accrediting information system in accordance with RMF
  • Experience with Configuration of Wide-Area and Local Area Networks (WAN/LAN)
  • Have or be able to obtain DoD 8570.01 Certifications
  • Knowledge of Traditional and Information Assurance STIGs for establishing and maintaining a SIPRNet node
  • Excellent written communication, report writing, and presentations skills
  • Experience working with federal/government agencies or defense contractors
  • Facility Security Officer Certified
