Artificial Intelligence Consultant

Key Role:

Serve as a strategic consultant to a DoD agency for high-risk government research and development programs related to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), including data mining, natural language processing, machine vision, neuromorphic engineering, third wave AI, and related fields. Work with world-class scientists and engineers to impact national security investment through the development of novel military applications for cutting-edge AI technologies. Maintain and leverage technical expertise and relationships in serving clients. Provide technical management support and strategic assessments of new technologies in support of senior DoD decision makers, including conducting background research for evaluating the feasibility of and potential applications for new technological concepts. Produce and present findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients, assist with technical program management and program development, and brief materials out for government research and development efforts. Apply AI expertise in exploring new concepts and identifying technological gaps in need of investment and assist with managing program performance and risk. Draft technical briefings for both technical and public audiences, perform travel for program reviews, site visits, and performer testing, and work as part of a diverse team to meet client needs.

Basic Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience with developing and implementing algorithms that use machine learning techniques, including research as a graduate student

-3+ years of experience with using AI tools or frameworks, including Caffe, TensorFlow, or MATLAB

-2+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical or non-technical audiences

-Ability to be self-motivated and work in a fast-paced environment

-Ability to commute to Arlington, VA

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-MA or MS degree in CS, Cognitive Science, Mathematics, or Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with developing machine learning systems at the architecture level

-Experience with implementing third wave AI algorithms

-Experience with technical project or program management

-Experience with DoD research and development projects

-Knowledge of multiple relevant disciplines

-Ability to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies in support of new concept development

-Possession of excellent client service skills

-Active Secret clearance preferred

-PhD degree in CS, Cognitive Science, Mathematics, or Engineering
