Architectural Engineer

       

Overview: 

Serve as the on-site Architectural Engineer supporting an enterprise Base Operations Support contract in the Central Virginia Area.  This individual will be responsible for developing, leading and overseeing complex facilities projects or program that may involve significant acquisitions.  They must demonstrate and apply highly developed interpersonal, analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills the ability to manage complex programs in a diverse and dynamic environment with short-notice tasking’s under high pressure situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, plan design and administer building projects applying knowledge of design, construction procedures, zoning and building codes, and building materials
  • Provide guidance to managers on a range of facilities project issues including considerations of risk and the impact on Government buildings
  • Consult with customers to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation
  • Prepare design, specification, material, color, equipment, estimated costs and construction time data
  • Plan layout of project and integrate engineering elements into unified design
  • Prepare scale drawings
  • Conduct observations of work during construction to monitor compliance with specifications and safety standards
  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes and customer requirements
  • Operated computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction and installation standards and specifications
  • Review engineering drawings for any changes to Government facilities
  • Oversee and coordinate operations, maintenance, repair and engineering for paved surfaces and building structures including roofs and parking garages
  • Serve as the SME in the event of an emergency

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in architectural engineering, structural engineering or equivalent work experience
  • (5) years of relevant work experience applying substantive architectural engineering expertise supporting facilities project management, with an emphasis on planning, scheduling, cost control and timeline management
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) License in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Must possess a current TS/SCI clearance with polygraph

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Certification in Facilities Management of PMP is desired.
  • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Expert computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of CMMS and MAXIMO
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design techniques, tool and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
