Job Title:  Architectural Design Specialist


Location:  Arlington, VA (Pentagon)



ALEX - Alternative Experts is now hiring an experienced Architectural Design Specialist that is interested in an opportunity to work hands-on with a historic US Department of Defense facility.  The selected candidate will be responsible for gathering data and preparing detailed drawings of building alterations and additions.  These include plans, details, sections, and elevations from rough sketches and outlines with differing levels of detail.  Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Developing architectural drawings using CAD software
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, including government agency reservation building codes
  • Determining and collecting end user requirements
  • Reviewing project bill of materials
  • Correcting non-compliant data elements within CAD files to comply with established data standards
  • Appropriately formatting and indexing drawings to be uploaded into the data management system
  • Performing quality assurance reviews to ensure CAD deliverables conform to governing CAD standards
  • Overseeing and executing all design documentation of all projects to comply with required Government Agency Building configuration standards


Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have and be able to maintain a Secret level security clearance at minimum. A higher level clearance may be required.
  • 3 or more years of experience with US Government construction or renovation projects
  • 2 or more years of experience using CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, or others)
  • Understanding of security requirements associated with handling design documents
  • Ability to Navigate a large government facility and surrounding outdoor areas totaling 280 acres
  • Excellent interpersonal and electronic communication skills


Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Architecture
