Summary:

The ArabicDialects Linguist will provide translation services in a variety offorms. Arabic Dialects Linguist will provide cryptologic language trainingto military and civilian personnel. Working with the Project Manager and Language and Training ContentManager, develop and integrate language training materials, technologies, andmethods into existing training programs

Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Providetranslation and language related services in a variety of forms including, butnot limited to: transcripts, gists, reports, oral recordings, posters, andsigns.
  • Provideglobal language, cryptologic language, and cultural training to military forcesand civilian personnel via traditional classroom instruction, writtenmaterials, technology based instruction, distributed learning services, andOJT.
  • Developnew global and cryptologic training materials, curriculum, and courseware forapproval of US Government.
  • Workwith the Language and Training Content Manager and customers, research andintegrate new language training technologies, software, and methodologies intocustomers’ existing training programs.
  • Trackstudent progression and report effectiveness of training to Language andTraining Content Manager.
  • Integratenew Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) curriculum andmaterials in a timely manner
  • Otherduties as assigned

MinimumQualifications: (Toperform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s Degreedesired. High school/GED degree required.
  • 3+ years ofexperience in producing translation and language related services.
  • 1+ years ofexperience providing language or related instruction. Military cryptologiclanguage instructor experience preferred.
  • InteragencyLanguage Round Table (ILRT) level 3 Arabic and an advanced working proficiencyin English (ILRT level 2+ based on the DLPT 4).
  • TS/SCI with CIPoly clearance required

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:

  • Write and speak target language inclear and concise grammar and pronunciation.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft OfficeSuite.
  • Knowledgeable in DistributedLearning and E-learning, Web-based language learning and testing programs.
  • Ability to produce idiomatictranslations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression fromEnglish to target language and vice versa.
  • Ability to conduct consecutive,accurate translations/interpretation of on-going conversations/activities.
  • Ability to effectively train othersin global language, cryptologic language, and culture.
  • Abiliy to travel.
  • Ability to receive and maintain allcustomer required access, included but not limited to facilities andInformation Systems

  • The employee will normally work ina temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure toelectronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas ofoperations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborneparticles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
