Application Developer

Job Description:

The Leidos needs an experienced and motivated designer and developer to join our team in support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Our team has existing applications built using various technology solutions including Java, Jscript, JQuery, Cold Fusion, .NET, SharePoint, and Oracle and open to and looking for even better solutions as applicable.

Our applications cross several areas of the FAA's business spanning from financial transaction systems, project workflow tools, power calculation systems, and beyond.

You are right for the job if you are curious about how the existing applications work, how they help the customer be their best, and how to make it even better.

Primary Responsibilities

Day to day we need you to:
  • Take ownership over project timelines and deliverables and be accountable to the customer and other team members
  • Significantly contribute (jump in and lead when needed!) in the re-design of our database schemas to optimize them for improved performance and scalability
  • Design and build new features to enhance our products
  • Apply software engineering and development practices to solve difficult technical problems
  • Conceptualize and implement usability / UX solutions
  • Stretch your skills and learn our systems as needed to contribute broadly to the team


In a typical week you may find yourself modifying the middleware of an application to improve system performance, drafting database schemas for review and critique, taking phone calls or meetings from customers and users to answer their questions about the system (and note how we can improve the offering based on the interaction), updating JIRA to indicate status on a development project, or providing input to a product roadmap of how we should grow an application over the next 3 years.

TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Typically requires BS degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.


Basic Qualifications
  • Experience working with application development, database design, and data normalization.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with the FAA
  • Experience with Cold Fusion.
  • Knowledge of power systems, power calculations, power panels
  • Microsoft SharePoint experience
  • .NET development expertise
