Aircraft Mechanic II (Airframer-Fixed Wing)

Job Summary

The Aircraft MechanicII (Airframer-Fixed Wing) is required to maintain and service the applicableaircraft airframe and hydraulic systems/components as required in support ofAir Test and Evaluation Squadron 31 RDT&E Programs in accordance withapplicable publications and governing instructions.

PrincipleAccountabilities


  • Services, repairs andoverhauls aircraft to ensure airworthiness.
  • Repairs, replaces andrebuilds aircraft structures of moderate difficulty, such as wings, fuselage,surface controls and functional components to include rigging, plumbing andhydraulic units utilizing hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment suchas shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet guns and drills.
  • Reads and interpretsmanufacturer’s publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and otherspecifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacingmalfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Inspects airframecomponents for fluid leaks, cracks and other damage.
  • Troubleshoot, remove,replace and repair aircraft structural and hydraulic system components.
  • Perform miscellaneousduties to service aircraft systems. As required by site operations and sitemanagement, be certified as a CDl.
  • Shall be able tocorrectly prioritize workload to maintain schedules and maintenance standardson assigned projects.

Knowledge & Skills


  • Knowledge of the useof aircraft hand tools, special tools, and test equipment is required.
  • Must have a workingknowledge of aircraft safety requirements and know how to operate portable firefighting equipment.


Experience &Education

  • The candidate musthave completed the Navy Class "C" school in airframe and hydraulicrepair or have minimum recent and applicable years’ experience.
  • Must have a highschool diploma or GED.
  • Must have a validdrivers’ license and be eligible to qualify for and able to maintain a secretlevel clearance.
  • Recent experience withF-18A-F, EA-18G, MH-60S or AV-8B aircraft strongly preferred.
