Responsibilities
Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking an Advanced Nuclear Facility Safety Analysis to join the Advanced Nuclear Facility Safety Engineering Team. The engineer will work to complete assignments on nuclear facility documented safety analyses (DSAs) and technical safety requirements (TSRs) development for proposed nuclear facilities to provide advanced nuclear research capabilities. Individuals will perform preliminary nuclear facility safety analyses and document analyses in accordance with DOE regulatory and company quality standards. In this position, individuals will identify applicable requirements, perform analyses and document assumptions, results and requirements to ensure hazardous and radioactive material releases are prevented or mitigated. The incumbent will ensure safety basis drafts and revisions accurately reflect the designed and constructed facility configuration and establish the necessary controls. Individuals will support nuclear facility planning, construction, startup and operations, which includes reviews of interfacing facility documents, potential regulatory changes, and proposed design changes and support DSA and TSR implementation. In this position, engineers will assist with investigation of emergent safety issues, development of long term nuclear safety goals, and safety issue resolutions. Engineer works independently or under oversight to solve technical nuclear safety issues. Engineer must establish objectives and set priorities for assigned work, and advise manager of nuclear safety or other technical issues. Engineer must develop and maintain effective interfaces with design engineers, operations personnel, project management staff and other technical experts internal and external to the laboratory. Engineer consults manager or other technical experts on technical approach for resolution of complex issues. Nuclear Safety Analysis Engineer is responsible for technical compliance, product quality, and timely completion of safety analysis projects. Engineer is a contributing professional who is building and growing a reputation for engineering expertise.

Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education and/or Experience):
Bachelors Degree (or Advanced Degree) in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil or other Engineering Degree.

Must be a US Citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.
Special Requirements and/or Training:
A broad range of analytical methods used in developing safety analyses and risk assessments and knowledge of Department of Energy or Nuclear Regulatory Commission nuclear safety and un-reviewed safety question guides and standards are preferred. Analyst must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
