Administrator/Professional Tech Writer


Job Description:

The customer is interested in IT Modernization efforts and Re-skilling and Workforce Transformation. Re-skill and up-skill employees impacted by IT modernization efforts, evolve workforce to more 21st Century skill sets and work practices, and enable the workforce to drive successful IT Modernization efforts going forward utilizing in-house talent.


The Administrator/ Professional Tech Writer edits, proofreads and provides writing support, the conceptualization, layout and preparation of high quality graphics, text, and templates, and the design, preparation, and creation of new media projects on non-technical and/or technical documents or sections of documents prepared by writers such as manuals, procedures and specifications.  Responsibilities include checking drafts for format, clarity and overall cohesiveness.  Ensuring documents meet editorial and government specifications and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style.  Responsibilities include: producing and/or revising technical articles, proposals, publications, books, manuals, reports, and marketing materials and determining project requirements and presenting drafts of finished product to the user ensuring high quality of output.  Reviews rough drafts and makes suggestions. In addition, individuals in this family design and develop multimedia applications, systems and products involving computer graphics and interactive computing using a variety of new media software applications, techniques and tools.   Responsible for analyzing user business problems to be solved with automated systems. May formulate and define information system scope and objectives through research, analysis, testing and fact finding with a basic understanding of business systems and industry requirements. May prepare communications and make presentations on recommendations on system enhancements or alternatives. May act as functional expert.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides problem definition, evaluation of requirements, and implementation of systems to meet business, user, and cost requirements.

  • May prepare communications and make presentations on recommendations on system enhancements or alternatives.

  • Familiarity with HUD COE initiatives


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and two (2) years of relevant experience.


Required Skills:

  • Candidate must have experience in extrapolating source data specifically in the creation of IT content.  

  • Candidate must have excellent English written and verbal communication skills with proven capability in performance as a Technical Writer.

  • Candidates must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team by interfacing regularly with a wide range of personnel.

  • Candidate must demonstrate advance level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and specifically in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.

  • Candidate must demonstrate advance level of proficiency in Adobe Professional.

  • Candidates who demonstrate intermediate level proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and MS SharePoint will be given prime consideration.

  • Candidates with a degree in Information Technology (IT) or Journalism will be given prime consideration. 

  • US Citizen with ability to obtain a Public Trust


Clearance Requirement:

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.
