Administrative Assistant for Security

 This position shall provide assistance to a higher graded security assistant with the execution of personnel security matters in accordance with DoD 5200 Security Program.

 Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidate shall:

  • Possess a minimum of 2- 3 years' of security experience.
  • Knowledge of Trusted Associate Sponsorship System (TASS), Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) and other security systems preferred.
  • Expert with all Microsoft Office Suites/Programs..
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills.
  • Possess and maintain a minimum clearance level of SECRET

Duties include preparation of required security clearance actions and forms for military and civilian employees. The Contractor will be responsible for determining the clearance of applicants and employees for entry and retention in employment and/or determining the clearance of employees or other persons for access to restricted/classified information, material, or work sites. Receives request for security clearances and evaluates the sensitivity classification of the position which requires a security clearance. Approves or rejects request. Researches and conducts preliminary investigation on applicants, and prepares documentation to obtain security clearance from the granting agency. In preparing documentation, evaluates the authenticity and veracity of applicants documents, i.e., proof of citizenship, birth certificate and/or naturalization certificate. Requires knowledge of security regulations and policies affecting the employment of individuals in government positions, applying those regulations to applicants and employees and the ability to analyze and evaluate investigative reports. Handles adverse personnel security actions requiring completion of forms, and/or security clearance suspension, revocation, or denial and reviews adverse pre-employment information. Contractor will gather, review and report all adverse/derogatory information to Commander, Naval History and Heritage Command. Verifies security clearances; processes visit requests; reviews foreign national visits request; reviews designations of position sensitivity; monitors the number of security clearances to keep clearance levels and need-to-know access to operational minimums. Duties will also consist of conducting security briefings and debriefings of arriving and departing personnel.


Industrial Security: Assists Security Specialist in verifying contractor security clearances; badges for contractors; and need for access. Attend pre-construction briefings with contractors to advise the contractor of all security procedures, regulations and policies.


Physical Security: Assists in a variety of substantive clerical functions in support fingerprinting and other support tasks related to security administration.


Responsible for the physical protection of sensitive information or other material to insure it is not compromised, sabotaged, or subjected to malicious mischief or other acts of willful interference at government facilities. Assists and provides training to activity security monitors concerning proper safeguarding of classified and sensitive information


Assist with other related duties as assigned.
