Administrative Assistant II shall perform administrative duties to the assigned executive team member; interpret and implement travel management policies, formulate and affect travel plans and priorities, carry out major travel assignments using discretion and independent judgment, and maintain accurate financial ledger.  Will provide other support as needed.

Includes the following: 

  • Interpret and implement travel management policies to include Travel Regulations, Financial Management Regulations and Financial Procedures on an ongoing basis demonstrating over time subject matter expertise. Formulate and affect travel plans and priorities; maintain up-to-date travel policies and standard operating procedures for the organization
  • Carry out major travel assignments using discretion and independent judgment when deciding the best course of action before obligating government funds and obtaining any required authorizations
  • Prepare required forms for OCONUS travel
  • Ensure all proper documents are obtained for travelers.
  • Resolve travel related issues and grievances by properly investigating matters on behalf of the client, evaluating possible courses of conduct, making recommendations and taking appropriate action
  • Maintain accurate financial ledger related to funds projected and expended in support of travel
  • Provide financial reports related to the expenditure of travel-related activities
  • Perform correspondence and document management
  • Provide human resources, time and attendance, logistical, database, meeting, and executive support
  • Serve as an administrative backup when needed
  • Receive visitors; Answer/screen phone calls
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned


No supervisory or management authority.


  • Associate’s degree
  • Minimum five years direct experience
  • Combination of substantial experience and education in the administrative field.


· Must possess a solid working knowledge of current Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook), and current SharePoint application

· Must have strong communicative skills and proficiency in spelling and grammar

· Shall have knowledge of clerical procedures used to perform the work

· Shall be highly organized and have excellent oral and written communication skills in order to interface with personnel and other government agencies at all levels.

· Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

· Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

· Knowledge of office policies, practices and procedures

· Ability to work independently

· Active Secret Clearance is required


  • This position is primarily performed in an office setting in a controlled office setting
