Acquisitions System Engineer


SAIC is seeking an Acquisitions Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at El Segundo, CA.
The position will provide Acquisition and Systems Engineering support to the U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) through the LE (Launch Enterprise) Directorate located at the Los Angeles Air Force Base. 
The position will touch all aspects of Government and program management acquisition processes, contract business support and contract analysis. It will also require interfacing/supporting the responsible AF Program Managers and
supporting them during the review and execution of previously and newly awarded contracts. 


General Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
• Support program management activities under the execution of a launch service to include program management, systems engineering, launch vehicle production, mission integration, launch operations. 
• Support of acquisition strategy plans and briefings; technical Justification & Approval (J&A); Request for Proposals (RFP); draft Performance Work Statement (PWS); Work Breakdown Structure Summary (WBS),Contract Deliverables Listing (CDRLs), Incentive Plan, Proposal Instructions and program reporting/planning. 
• Integration of program/project tasks and provide technical assessment, evaluation and recommendations for post-RFP release activities, fact finding, proposal evaluations, and negotiations. 
• Support to government space flight worthiness through the review of contract deliverables, milestone payment requests
and support of program reviews. 
• Review of contract deliverables including launch system data (As Designed/As Built Configuration List, Flight Critical Items List., etc.). 
• Review of program management data reporting (Integrated Master Schedule, Contractor Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Reporting, etc.). 
• Support to Program Management Reviews (PMRs) including mission kickoff, mission design reviews, flight readiness reviews, etc. 
• Review of Mission Assurance activities such as space flight worthiness meetings, government hardware review, production and engineering forums, etc. 
• Support to routine program meetings such as contract deliverable reviews, status reviews, etc.


• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Related Field & 5+ years of work related experience or 9 years of work related
 experience required in lieu of degree. 
• Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment and effective decision-making. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, Power Point. 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills 
• Listening and Team-Building Skills 
• Project Management Ability and Skills 
• Presentation Skills (using PowerPoint) 
• Active Secret Security Clearance 

Desired Qualifications


• Previous SMC SETA (Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance) or SE&I (Systems Engineering and Integration program experience is a plus. 
• Familiarity and experience working with or within Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB) Space and Missile Center (SMC) work environment.
