2020 Software Engineer Intern - Human Effectiveness

At Charles River Analytics, our interns work on real projects and cutting-edge technology. We believe strongly in promoting within, which is demonstrated by the fact that we not only have hired former interns, but that several of our Senior Scientists and one of our division Vice Presidents began their careers at Charles River as interns!

This summer, we are looking for enthusiastic Software Developer Interns for our Human Effectiveness division. We are seeking students with an interest in learning about and a successful academic background in the following areas: software engineering, computer science, cognitive engineering, artificial intelligence, or applied mathematics.

You will use a variety of technologies such as web-based development, game development and algorithms. During your time at Charles River, you will work in small project-oriented groups of scientists and software engineers to build working prototypes of intelligent decision-support tools. As an example of the type of work you would do, one of our former Human Effectiveness interns built a missile defense training game with Unity and C#, which allowed him to use algorithms and data structures to program the simulations while also learning about visual design and animations to apply to the user interface.

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Proven proficiency in Java, C#, C++, or other object-oriented languages with a solid background in designing, programming, and documenting software systems
  • Game developers: Demonstrated ability leverage Unity for the development of training applications
  • Web developers: Demonstrated ability to learn and apply modern web frameworks
  • User interface developers: Demonstrated ability to build prototypes and iterate on designs
  • Candidates should have demonstrated capability to work independently as well as effectively within a team environment

Additional Skills:

  • Mobile development
  • Human-computer interaction
  • Game agent development
  • Agile development
