Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to participate in the design, development, and integration of distributed, real-time, and embedded software for a multi-function sensor system, supporting multiple large-scale domains and platforms. The work will involve design, development, integration, debugging, and verification of software, tooling, and drivers, primarily in C++. The engineer will need to interface with other engineering disciplines such as: systems engineering to develop software requirements and technical specifications, hardware engineering to support integration efforts, and program management to discuss technical program issues. The person will need to track defects, develop resolutions and report technical status. They will also need to develop and execute unit-level and product verification test plans, and track and report test status. Additionally, the selected individual will conduct reviews of software related products, software designs, and additional technical documents. The responsibilities include active participation in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), design reviews and other reviews, as required.

The engineer will contribute to the addition of functionality by utilizing technologies which include: open architecture solutions, model-based engineering, event-driven paradigms, as well as open-source and commercial messaging standards.

Individuals must be self-starters and able to efficiently operate in a collaborative & agile team environment, supporting a larger product development eco-system.

This positionwill belocated in Linthicum, MD.

Basic Qualifications:

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

- Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university

- Be majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM degree program

- Current attending MIT and involved in the MIT GEL program

- Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)

- Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks

- Be able to obtain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)


Preferred Qualifications:

- Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.70/4.0 or higher- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering

- Experience in Embedded C/C++ development

- Previous internship/co-op experience

- Demonstrated leadership & teamwork capabilities

- Strong interpersonal communication skills

- Participation and leadership in professional/community/extracurricular activities

- Active US Security clearance at a Secret level or higher
