17-755 Systems Engineer/Analyst-Discrimination 3/4

The National Team is seeking a Systems Engineer 3 or 4 to join our team in Huntsville, ALprovides systems engineering solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) for the development and evolution of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The BMDS is an integrated, layered architecture that provides multiple opportunities to destroy missiles and their warheads before they can reach their targets.

•Performs system performance analysis in support of BMDS Countermeasures, Mitigation and Discrimination (CM&D).
•Active role in the assessments performed by the CM&D Roadmap team, assist in architecture trade studies, perform end to end analyses using modeling and simulation (M&S) tools, and participate in discrimination related requirements development.
•The IDT M&S tools model both the existing BMDS architecture and future concepts to aid in exploring architecture trade space for optimal performance for both homeland defense and regional protection.
•The CM&D Roadmap team performs critical assessments of future planned architectures, new concept alternatives, employment techniques & technologies, applicability of counter-countermeasures, and addressing technology gaps. This is an excellent opportunity for gaining familiarity with CM&D challenges, new and novel technologies, future concepts, and analytical techniques.

Basic Qualifications:
This position may be filled at either a level 3 or 4

BQs for a Systems Engineer 3: requires 5 years with Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics

BQs for a Systems Engineer 4: requires 9 years with Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.

•Self-starter, a quick learner, and have an appreciation for the BMDS.
•Statistical methods.
•Proficiency using Microsoft Office.
•Must have good communication skills, be capable of working independently and in a team environment.
•Limited experience (on a team) solving complicated engineering or physics problems.
•Some experience using MATLAB or programming in C, C++ or similar language environment.

Preferred Qualifications:


•Knowledge of Modeling & Simulation techniques associated with 3+ degrees of freedom motion, especially as it applies to ballistic trajectories.
•Experience performing algorithm development using MATLAB or similar language environment. Knowledge of Integrated Discrimination and how the BMDS works from the perspective of sensors (RF/Radar and EO/IR) and applicability related to missiles/interceptors/kill vehicles.
•An appreciation of multi-sensor phenomenology and feature exploitation is beneficial. Some exposure or experience performing trade studies and analysis of alternatives.
•Experience with some of the BMDS elements and threat environment: Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control (FOM, GFC), C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, and counter-countermeasures.
•Some background or knowledge of Electronic Attack and Electronic Protection. Pattern recognition.
•Experience evaluating future technologies, assessing risks, capability readiness and technology gaps are pluses.
•Top Secret clearance.
